The game that saw Kev re-introduced to the U19 game. We used to go and watch the Eastwood Town Under 19s regularly a few years back, and always enjoyed seeing the young Badgers playing good, honest football. I have seen a couple of Arnold Town U19 games this season and was pleased that, after singing the praises of the young Eagles, they and their opponents produced a game of quality, with two superb goals to boot..........
Much too cold to take notes, but Arnold took the lead in the 4th minute, a cracking 18 yard drive from DALE RIPPEY beating the Staveley keeper for pace. CALLUM NIX levelled on 40 when he received the ball 25 yards from goal, beat a couple of defenders and hit a curling shot into the top corner that gave the Arnold stopper no chance. H-T 1-1
Rippey was tripped early in the second half, and Referee Andy Bills had no hesitation in awarding the spot kick. Blotted his copy book really by not issuing a red card for the trip - a clear goalscoring opportunity appeared to have been denied, but the offender was not even spoken to by Mr. Bills.
Rippey took the kick but the visiting keeper went the right way and was able to palm the ball away to safety. The game was played at some pace, and all the participants deserve credit - great game and the goals alone were well worth the £2 entrance fee. F-T 1-1
Three more U19 games lined up before Christmas ...!!
