Carlton Town Res 11-1 Teversal Res

CMFL Reserve Supreme Division - Thursday 16th September, played at Stoke Lane.

Carlton Town Committte man, Mr. Brian "Evening Post" Dennett told us about this re-arranged game, then didn't turn up himself! Moor fool him!

Arrived at the ground with five minutes to spare, and managed to have a chat with Tevie's football Secretary Kev Newton before kick off. He did warn us that there would be a few goals - his team was very makeshift, even to the extent that they only had one substitute. Carlton lined up with plenty of experience : first team squad members Antwon Bonnick, Warren Hatfield, Mark Clarke, Luke Smith and Michael Martin all started the game Not writing a report, just basically a list of the goals.......

Carlton no.9 DENNIS SIMMS opened the scoring on 4, after Bonnick's powerful run and cross left him with a simple tap in from close range. SIMMS made it 2-0 six minutes later, a delicate lob from 20 yards over keeper Ben Smith. Tevie gave away a free kick 20 yards from goal in the 25th minute - ANTWON BONNICK hammered the ball through the Tevie wall, past Smith and into the net.

Hatfield made a great run into the box on the half-hour mark, before picking out no. 7 MITCH ( full name not known) who slotted past Smith. It was 5-0 on 43, a superb through ball from Luke Smith latched onto by BONNICK who beat his marker before firing home. H-T 5-0

It got worse for Tevie in the 57th minute - losing a player to injury with no more subs on the bench meant they had to play the rest of the game with just 10 men. BONNICK completed his hat-trick on 62, hitting the ball home from the corner of the box - he had clearly shouted "leave-it" as the ball was played forward to him, but the goal was allowed to stand. Seconds later it was 7-0, Simms firing the ball across the Tevie goal to where Carlton no. 15 shirt was waiting to bundle home at the far stick.

BONNICK netted again from the edge of the box on 74, but again was clearly heard to have shouted " leave-it" in the build up. Both the linesman and Referee chose to ignore this and the goal was, yet again, allowed to stand. Seconds later, the Millers' no. 14 was on the scoresheet hammering home from close range after great work by Mitch. DENNIS SIMMS completed his personal treble in the 77th minute, lashing the ball home from the edge of the area. Then came the biggest cheer of the evening - Tevie's no. 6 reduced the deficit to 10-1 on 80 after poor defending allowed him room to shoot.

Carlton added their 11th goal just before the final whistle, their no. 15 shirt on target again. F-T 11-1 So, Kev Newton was right, but Tevie played well inbetween goals, and although they knew they were in for a battering, they never let their heads drop, and came out of this game with a lot of pride and a lot of respect from the 40 odd that were present.

Saturday - FA Vase action -- Heanor Town v Sutton Town AFC. Should be a good test for new Snipes boss Jason Kabia !!
