Arnold Town 1-1 Thackley FC

Tuesday 26th October -- NCEL Division 1

Very good, pacy game and well officiated by Referee Mr. Ward. No report as such, I decided to take a night off from writing notes and just enjoy the game. Young players were abundant on both teams, and Kev wondered if that might mean we were in for a bit of kick and rush.

Thankfully the blend of youth tempered with a few experienced old hands, saw both teams play the game in the right spirit and with plenty of skill, and this meant the teams were a credit to their respective clubs. The Arnold no. 11, Luke Smithson has been brought in from the Arnold U19's and he looks a very good prospect.

I can't see anything but a bright future for this young man. Anyway, the game was goal-less until the 67th minute when Arnold's no.8 DARREN BETTISON drilled a 20 fierce yarder past Matty Convey in the Thackley net.

It seemed Arnold might hang on for all three points, but on 86, Thackley left-back LUKE RICHARDSON was given too much time after the ball sat up for him just on the edge of the box. The no. 3 hit a fine volley past the Arnold keeper, who did get a hand to the ball, but couldn't prevent it from entering the goal. F-T 1-1
