Our final pre-season game of 2010 saw us visiting on of our favourite haunts, Forest Town Welfare. This game was played on the "bottom" pitch due to the fact that the main pitch is still being made ready for Forest Town's upcoming first season in the NSL.
Parkhouse warm up
Advertised as a 7pm kick, we arrive with time to spare to find the teams still warming up - eventually kicked of at 7:15pm. Both teams showed little for the first 25 minutes, then Town's Sam Holmes decided to try his luck from range, bringing out a great save from the Parkhouse keeper.
Kick off
MOM Danny Tighe in action
Tighe slots home the first of his brace of penalties
On 29, Forest Town were awarded a penalty after James McCann was tripped, and DANNY TIGHE stepped up and slotted past the keeper. As soon as the game was restarted, Parkhouse won themselves a corner from which their no. 4 headed against the crossbar - the ball looked to have crossed the line as it cannoned down off the bar, and the linesman confirmed this by awarding the goal. H-T 1-1
Parkhouse appeal - and the goal is given The second half was only a couple of minutes old, when McCann was upended in the area again. DANNY TIGHE slotted home his and Forest Town's second spot-kick of the evening. SAM HOLMES scored the goal of the game on 51, running in from the left before firing a superb effort across the keeper and in at the far post.
The game became a bit niggly after this, and both teams had players who had to be forced apart by the young Referee. He did mange to go through the game without booking anyone, but he needs to go and buy some new socks - seemed that the elastic had gone in his current pair and he was forever pulling them up!! F-T 3-1
