Kimberley Town 0-6 Harworth CI

Thursday 14th October 2010 -- Central Midlands League Supreme Division.

Around 25 present, and that number included Brian Dennett, Richard and Rick Lane, Mr. Mac and several other local hoppers. I was wondering what keeps Kimberley Chairman Graeme Critchley going - his team gets battered every week, he has players crying off two hours prior to kick off, and for this game his Manager failed to show. Admitted the team is very young and inexperienced so will be tested at this level, but to see Graeme sorting out the team, the kit, the subs, as well as treating on-field injuries made me marvel at his dedication.

The Kimberley skipper was their keeper, and in the first four minutes he was called upon to make several saves, including one tip over the bar that really was top drawer. He was eventually beaten on 17 when the Harworth no. 8 "Billy" headed home from a right wing cross. A few minutes later another cross from the right, another "Billy" header made it 2-0 to the visitors. It finished 0-2 at the break, and to honest it could have been far worse for the home team.

The third goal was not long in coming after the restart, the Harworth no. 9 "Daz" firing home from the edge of the box on 53. Kimberley's left back added an own goal on 55, but he was very unlucky - the ball was flying everywhere and he just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time, bundling home from 6 yards out.
Harworth's no.2 headed home their fifth after 70 minutes had been played, although how he was allowed to head the ball in the Kimberley box left us scratching our heads - he must be all of 5' 4" !!

"Billy" completed his triple on 81, sticking out a long leg to divert a fierce, but off-target Daz free-kick into the net from about 8 yards out. Kimberley managed to hit the Harworth bar as the game entered it's final throes, but it would have been a mere consolation. F-T 0-6
